Standing desks

I’m standing here, laptop perched atop a four-shelf bookcase. I love standing desks. We have several in the house, all electric, from a deep, beautiful one in my wife’s office, to the eight foot behemoth in mine. But, like leaping into hyperspace, transitions from sitting to standing are often tense and complex experiences with something valuable being dragged to the floor by a stranglehold electric cord.

So here I am. In a corner. Laptop on a bookcase and looking for a proper standup desk, you know, the kind Hemingway had. Or Bob Cratchit. "Standing desk" gives me lots of Etsy hits from steampunk to neo-Victorian. No. Just no.
