Let the Machine Dream

A series exploring how machine learning models interprets the universe. 

A long time ago, I recall an article in Print magazine where a photographer gave a camera to his blind friend. The images were banal, beautiful, and haunting. Nothing was still, everything was fluid, and the perspectives were fantastic.

With that, we explore generative AI models. What does the machine see? How is our world encoded in these models? What is the role of the artist if art becomes pushbutton filler for the commercial slop machine?

We start by asking nothing of our generation models. We curate the best images to highlight the beauty of uninhibited generation. In doing so, we begin to glimpse how our world is encoded in the model, and begin to redefine our role in this new artform.

Simply put, we let the machine dream.
